A parceria de Robert Plant e Alison Krauss, que resultou no álbum Raising Sand, foi a grande vencedora da noite, com cinco prêmios Grammy no total, incluindo o melhor disco.

Em especial, o evento deste ano contou com o retorno da cantora Whitney Houston, que já havia feito uma performance marcante na festa pré-Grammy, realizada neste sábado. Whitney voltou aos holofotes para apresentar o primeiro prêmio da noite: o melhor álbum de R&B, dado à cantora Jennifer Hudson por seu primeiro disco de estúdio. Ela, por sua vez, dedicou a vitória à sua família, em especial mãe, irmão e sobrinho, mortos em um trágico episódio de assassinato no ano passado.

0 Como é habitual em todos os anos, o Grammy teve muitas performances marcantes, entre elas a de Al Green com Justin Timberlake =ele ainda voltaria ao palco para uma apresentação solo -, que cantaram Let’ Get Together, e a banda britânica Coldplay, que levou os troféus de melhor canção do ano, pelo sucesso Viva La Vida, melhor álbum de rock e melhor dupla ou grupo pop.

Dentro do esperado, Adele ganhou o prêmio de artista revelação, desbancando os Jonas Brothers e Duffy, que acabou levando o Grammy de melhor álbum vocal pop. Adele ainda ganhou o Grammy de melhor performance vocal feminina por Chasing Pavements, hit que tomou as rádios americanas e britânicas.

O ex-Beatle Paul McCartney mostrou que ainda é um dos melhores de sua categoria -superando outros de gerações mais recentes -com uma performance marcante de I Saw Her Standing There, mais conhecida pela versão dos Fab Four.
